Alice Oseman

Heartstopper: Volume Two

"Don’t you feel like you need to come out to anyone until you feel ready. Rumours spread so fast around our schools… That can be really hard to deal with if you barely know who you are."

Nick and Charlie are best friends. Nick knows Charlie's gay, and Charlie is sure that Nick isn't.

But love works in surprising ways, and Nick is discovering all kinds of things about his friends, his family ... and himself.

Book #2 in The Heartstopper Series!

Alphabet Team Review

Alice Oseman writes in her author’s note, “Everyone deserves the time, space and support to figure out their feelings and identity” and this is what this book explores with Nick, and with Charlie being an amazing support for him. It’s gorgeous.

The side characters get a bit more time in this volume which includes some great representation: two sapphic women (Tara and Darcy) and a TransFemme woman (Elle).

I also like that it discusses dealing with ‘friends’ that think homophobic jokes are the height of comedy and concluding that you don’t actually have to like them as people very much and perhaps you’ve outgrown them.

Again, a book that I wish existed when I was a teenager.
